How to load a map of North America on Garmin Mobile XT?

I have Garmin Mobile XT installed on my new Nokia N97, but I bought the phone in Malaysia and so it only comes with maps of Malaysia. I will be returning to the U.S. soon and obviously I want to load a map on the device, how can I do that? It seems that he could not find the appropriate download on the Garmin website. Furthermore, how can I connect the software to my PC? Thanks in advance:) And what is SD?
