One of the most successful spin-off series in television history, CSI: Miami returns for a fifth series this fall. The show, reported by Reuters this year as the most watched television show in the world, returns this season with the continuation of an explosive story line that threatens to destroy Lieutenant Horatio Caine – and has cost the life of someone close to him.
If you've fallen behind in the fourth season of CSI: Miami, here a short primer to bring you up to date with the world of Horatio Caine and his crack team of investigators from the crime scene.
424: Rampage
After she married Delko CSI cancer stricken sister, Marisol, things are going well for Lieutenant Horatio Caine. While she may have little time, the couple is enjoying the when it is near the maximum. That is, until Horatio gets caught in the criminal trial of a leader of the sinister crime gang Mala Noche.
When the leader gang Raphael Sifuentes escapes from his trial Lt. Caine shoots his accomplice Jose Truillo dead, incurring the wrath of the Mala Noche. In retaliation for the killing the gang put out a hit on Caine's new wife, Marisol. Both she and Delko are shot by a sniper from a tall building. While Delko's wound is not fatal, Marisol is seriously injured.
To be rushed to hospital, Marisol's ambulance ambushed by members of Mala Noche driving a black Lincoln. Caine leaps Ambulance firing on the car and took out two murderers, while the driver Memmo Fierro, escapes on foot. Meanwhile, Marisol's condition worsens because of a delay in receiving treatment, and later she passes away from the hospital.
Caine and Delko succeed in locating the gunman Marisol, Memmo Fierro, the hotel where he is hosted. They drive him to a secluded location in the Everglades, and Caine holds a gun to your head. Paralyzed with fear, Mierro reveals that Mala Noche was a member Antonio Riaz who ordered hitting Marisol.
425: One of Our Own
The final season begins with the continued search for Antonio Riaz, the Mala Noche member gang who ordered the killing of Marisol Delko. The CSIs are called to a murder scene where five members of Mala Noche were gunned down, and it seems that the scene was the safe house Riaz. While clearing the scene, the officer Aaron Jessop triggers a trap – a grenade hidden in a barbecue – and is killed. It appears that Riaz wished to leave a surprise for Lt. Caine.
The gun used to kill the gang members, an AK47, is tracked to Rafik Ohmad, an arms dealer who did business with Mala Noche. Video evidence a trade between Ohmad Riaz and reveals the real reason Marisol Delko was executed – she was a witness to the deal, and was killed to ensure his silence.
ICS also trace a phone number for Antonio Riaz, and while talking with him, he admits the real reason for success. He also boasts that there will soon be a fireball over Miami "- Caine leading to assume that Riaz purchased a surface-to-air weapon of Ohmad, and intends to destroy a commercial airplane.
However, an FBI investigation in the CSI unit stifles teamwork. It seems that the $ 12,000 cash disappeared from evidence, and the feds were called in to investigate. It appears that Delko is out and about the love interest, Natalia Boa Vista, was an FBI mole sent to discredit the Miami Dade Police Department, but she insists she did not report lack of evidence. CSI Ryan Wolfe re-investigates the evidence and prove that money was stolen by someone outside the department. In fact, money was stolen by State Attorney Monica on West attempting to discredit the department of their own political benefit. Her fiance, the Treasury Agent Peter Elliot, draws a confession from West that leads to their detention.
With time running out, Antonio Riaz is spotted by a police helicopter to create a shot in an industrial area near the Miami airport. Arriving at the scene just the time, Caine takes Riaz with two shots to the leg as he pulls the trigger of the anti-aircraft gun. Resist the temptation to kill him, Caine fires a shot close to Riaz heads "to scare him into submission.
The series concludes with the shocking news that Riaz made an agreement with the FBI, agreeing to inform on an Afghan terrorist sleeper cell operated by Rafik Ohmad in exchange for his extradition to Brazil, where they probably go free. Upon hearing the news, Horatio tells Delko to pack his bags: they will follow you …
What's Next?
We can expect a beginning exciting to the fifth season of CSI: Miami. Arriving in Rio Caine meets his sister-in-law Yelina, who fled there with her husband Ray and son, Ray Jr., the last third episode of the season. However, not all is well. Raymond is gone, and Ray Jr, now 14, was forced to infiltrate the underworld of Rio, in order to locate it. Little did he know that it may already be too late …
So how it will end the story arc? Who knows? CBS is keeping its mouth shut about the new developments in the fifth season of CSI: Miami. The only way to discover, then, is to tune …
